2 Email Tips

From Simple Things
Here are two great, easy to implement, tips  to improve your email etiquette.

1. Don’t fill in the recipient email addresses before completing the email

You might have seen this happen. A broken email arrives quickly followed by another email asking you to ignore the earlier email as the “send” button was pressed accidentally. It’s a waste of time for both people. Stuff happens - so the best way to prevent it is not to fill in the recipient details until you complete the email message.
4. No surprises by email (golden rule)

You are running late on a critical project or you won’t make it to a meeting that is scheduled later today - best is to not use an email to surprise people. Surprises are good as long as they are positive. If it is negative, try your best not to send it by email.

good tips! I very much don’t appreciate the second one when it happens to me. And I used to do it to others, but it was because I didn’t want to tell them to their face/didn’t want accountability in the reason i wasn’t going to be there. so, basically i think that people just are pansies if they do that.

Yeah, I do the first tip, but I can’t say I always follow the last one… though I definitely know I am copping out when I do it. I’ll try to embrace confrontation and do that one better.

The code i had to enter to leave this comment was ASHU, and I know a guy in India named Ashu. :-)
